Our story
A taste for invention, born from two family crafts.
Where the name comes from
gbOfficina is naturally my initials, and officina, which means workshop in Italian. A nod to my Italian roots, and to the image I have of a tailoring or jewellery workshop: a large space full of machines, a team, and a creative spirit in full swing.
The spark
My first invention was born from a drawing my brother made, using a technique of dots of varying intensity to represent a silhouette. That logic of dots led me to my first fastener. This blend sums up what drives me well: fashion, style, and the combination of function, beauty and simplicity of use.
The idea for the bag hooks came one ordinary day, leaving a restaurant in Morges with my son: as I picked up the bag hook from my bag, the concept simply appeared to me.
The keyring is a new variation, still in development.
The path
I see myself as a generalist, without being at the cutting edge of any one field in particular. My career and my training in different areas, automotive mechanics, IT, communication, have given me a wide range of knowledge that now lets me create.
The family imprint
With a jeweller for a father and a seamstress for a mother, the precision of metal and the care of textile have always drawn me in. These two worlds remain my main sources of inspiration: it is at their crossing point that my mechanisms are born.
One of my brothers matters a great deal too: an artist and illustrator, he had a real sense of creation, one I find again in my own inventions. My mother, now over 90, practised her craft as a seamstress with remarkable precision: I watched her make three-piece suits from start to finish. That same demand for precision shows up directly in my mechanisms.
Why now
A workable idea does not fall from the sky. I have had several that, after a few days, no longer held up: not innovative enough, or already patented. After several years, I had one I could not “destroy”. That is when I started the patent filing process.
The vision
In the medium term, I want to make gbOfficina a recognised name for innovative products in the world of fashion, starting in Switzerland, with the ambition of going international.
Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be an inventor. I love creating, innovating, improving, it is this taste for hands-on work that is at the root of gbOfficina.
